Baxter’s Bakery is a fast growing, family owned and operated, BRC certified commercial bakery situated in picturesque Cobourg, Ontario.
The Baxter family has been in the bakery business since 2005 and take pride in their delicious hand-crafted bakery items with brands such as "Baxter's Bakery" and "Quinn's Baking Co". Current production include Swiss Rolls, loaves, muffins and cookies, butter tarts and squares.

Shipper/Receiver/Forklift Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform packing duties such as manual lifting, packaging, banding, labeling, and sorting.
  • Report questionable product to Management ie product quality.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Move product and inventory between production and pick-pack area.
  • Organize pallets
  • Take ownership of our freezer and shipping area.
  • Perform related duties as required by Management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Involve repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of carts, trollies, and boxes.
  • Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have Current Valid Forklift License.

  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Perform basic visual quality inspections on products.

General Housekeeping - Sanitation Level 1

TRAINING & SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Food safety, chemical safety and health & safety training provided upon hire.
  • Lock Out/Tag Out training provided as necessary, previous experience an asset.
  • Mandatory safety footwear, yearly allowance provided.
  • Uniforms and PPE provided, including bump caps.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely use of approved chemicals to clean and disinfect.

  • Keep accurate records of cleaning performed.

Quality Assurance Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Quality Assurance & Sanitation teams.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure consistent goals & operation, monitor & enforce GMPs.
  • Maintain, update, and ensure consistent execution of Food Safety and Quality programs in compliance with CFIA, FDA, BRC, and other customer requirements.
  • Lead HACCP, food defense, and recall teams.
  • Lead third party audits (BRC, customer audits as required).
  • Perform annual HACCP Reassessment, internal auditing, CCP and prerequisite program validations.
  • Lead in conducting root cause analysis for internal deviations and customer complaints. Implement relevant corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Monitoring of quality / food safety records, including CCP. Serve as PCQI.
  • Analyze data and trends to troubleshoot Food Safety, Quality, or manufacturing related problems.
  • Manage the pest control (3rd party), Environmental Monitoring, and product sampling programs.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for all training related to Food Safety and QA programs and ensure that all relevant training is completed.
  • Perform self-inspections, audits, and routine verifications as assigned.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the traceability program, lead in mock recalls.
  • Lead and facilitate Food Safety and Quality risk assessments for product development projects and product launches.
  • Responsible for the generation, maintenance and updates related to the production master data, product specifications, recipes, and other reference documents.
  • Review of newly designed and existing labels to ensure compliance to all relevant regulations.
  • Develop a positive work environment & culture through excellent interpersonal, team building, and communication skills.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULER/ PLANNER

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the daily and weekly Master Production Schedules.
  • Integration of sales forecasts and orders into the Master Production Schedule while balancing the competing needs of customer service levels, manufacturing efficiencies, proper lead times, food safety restrictions, and staffing.
  • Effectively communicate with upper management and sales team to understand priorities.
  • Monitor sales trends and establish appropriate inventory par levels while considering product shelf-life and minimum customer requirements.
  • Work closely with Production Manager to ensure that production and shipping dates are met according to sales forecasts and customer orders.
  • Collaborate with all operational departments including QA and procurement as required.
  • Adjusts schedule as required to due to unforeseen obstacles while considering ingredient and packaging lead times and availability.
  • Communicate to all relevant parties’ changes in schedules and/or production attainment.
  • Analyze production metrics & processes to generate achievable plans and meet business targets.
  • Provide recommendations to improve production and reduce costs and waste through process improvements.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in scheduling, & labor planning.
  • Back-up to Production Manager; must learn all aspects of manufacturing processes.

Bakery Line Operator

Job description

  • Setting up and operating the machinery used in the manufacturing area daily.
  • Starting up and stopping the machine as necessary, including refilling material needed
  • Performing routine checks to ensure that the machine is in an operable state.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of equipment and the work area.
  • Ensuring the correct material is used for specific product ranges and is done in line with the company standards.
  • Inspecting final products.
  • Reporting problems on the machines to the relevant managers.
  • Moving of completed boxes of products to the correct inventory area or returning materials to warehouse
  • Adhering to the safety regulations and protocol implemented in the manufacturing area.
  • Completing all relevant documentation on the packing and maintenance of the operating machines.
